Semionovo was the second centre where matryoskas were produced. They appeared almost a quarter of the century later when the first Russian ones, in 1925.Even the names of the authors are known.Arsenty Mayorov bringing an unpainted nesting doll from Nizny Novgorod Fair gave it to his dauther Lubov to paint it. She used aneline dies. An artel producing matryoshkas was organized in Semionovo in 1931, later it became a factory. The doll is "dressed" in a skirt,a blouse, a headkerchief and an apron is considered to be the characteristic feature of matryoshka,because it is decorated with a bright bouqet of flowers. All Semionovo matryoshkas are black-haired.At first there was no outline of the central flower,it looked more like a dog rose, now we see a garden rose.Male dolls are also made, the highest one is intended to hide a bottle.Others contain their family inside or gepict a group of warriors.In recent years matryoshkas-Santa Clauses,gnomes and Ded Morozes appeared.One of the dolls in the front is an owl.They also produce matryoshka chess and eggs.Matryoshkas from Semionovo even made a space trip with a French cosmonaut.
